A 30-year-old man allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered a seven-year-old girl in central Assam’s Hojai district. The police have recovered girl's blood-soaked body and arrested the accused.
According to the report, the accused, identified as Joyprakash Kalar alias Munna allegedly raped and murdered the minor girl, who came to her maternal uncle’s house at Barhola to attend a marriage ceremony. The girl went missing on Friday night from her maternal uncle’s house when the marriage party was going on.
After receiving the complaint of missing of Girl. Hojai Police reached the spot and began the investigation. The accused was subsequently arrested and charged with kidnapping, sexual assault and murder under the Indian Penal Code along with sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO). The incident has sparked tension in the area and locals have demanded a death sentence to the culprit.
