Guwahati: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma attacked Congress party national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra saying sweeping is an everyday task for an Indian family. He slammed Priyanka Gandhi for sweeping the floor recently in Uttar Pradesh and asked how could this news be?

Himanta Biswa Sarma further said that cleaning the room is part of the daily work of anyone's house. Speaking on a news channel programme, Sarma said India has changed and people will not pay attention to such stage acts of politicians. Himanta Biswa Sarma further said, 'I don't know how a woman sweeping the floor can become news. It is a common domestic practice in every family in India. I've seen my mother sweeping the house. Haven't you seen your mother sweeping the floor?'

CM Sarma said Priyanka Gandhi's actions during the detention in UP were stage acts, otherwise, how a photographer was there to shoot videos. Priyanka Gandhi was detained in Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh on Monday morning when she was on her way to meet the families of farmers killed in Lakhimpur. Priyanka was then house arrested at Sitapur Guest House from where her sweeping video went viral.
