Assam, Meghalaya CMs to hold second round of border talks today

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to have second-round talks with his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma. Both will hold a second round of talks over the inter-state border dispute today i.e. August 6.

The meeting is scheduled at Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati at noon. Meghalaya CM Conrad will be accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong with other top officials. Chief Secretaries of both the states would likely attend the second round of talks. CM Sarma had met Conrad Sangma earlier also in Shillong on July 23. The meet was a bid to resolve the longstanding border dispute between the two states. After a detailed discussion, both the state governments decided to adopt a pragmatic approach and move from status quo to solution.

The first round of chief ministerial-level talks, both state chief ministers decided to discuss and resolve issues of all 12 disputed sites will be discussed one by one. It was also decided that relevant merits and demerits of claims and counterclaims will be discussed during the meetings.
