Guwahati: Current CM Sarbananda Sonowal has submitted his resignation to Governor Jagdish Mukhi amid speculation about the face of assam's next chief ministership. The name of the Assam CM is to be announced today. However, it is believed that Himanta Biswa Sarma is leading the CM's race this time.

In Assam, there was a bJP-led tussle over the new CM for the past six days. To find a solution, the Central leadership on Saturday summoned outgoing CM Sarbananda Sonowal and state health minister and chief ministerial candidate Hemant Biswa Sarma to Delhi and held extensive discussions with them.  Earlier, hemant vishwa sarma was first summoned and spoken to at a meeting held in Delhi on Saturday.

Sarbananda Sonowal was then called and discussed with him. After separate meetings with the two leaders, the BJP leadership held talks with each other and then the two leaders were called together. According to sources, the party has put the whole thing before the two leaders and a consensus has been reached on the new leader, however, it is yet to be disclosed.
