New Delhi: The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police has arrested a 57-year-old Assistant Superintendent of Tihar Jail, Prakash Chand. He is accused of providing facilities in lieu of money to the imprisoned Mahathag Sukesh Chandrashekhar. The accused Prakash Chand, residing in the staff quarters of Tihar Jail complex, was arrested on April 29 last month. Against him in August 2021 last year under IPC sections 170, 384, 386, 388, 406, 409, 419, 420, 468, 471, 506, 186, 353, 120B, 66-D IT Act and 3,4 MCOCA An FIR was registered at the Thana Special Cell (EOW) Delhi.

He was posted as Assistant Superintendent in Rohini Jail from 2019 to May 2021. It is alleged that during his posting in Rohini Jail and duty in the ward of Mahathaga Sukesh Chandrashekhar, he had helped the accused in committing the crime. He is currently posted as Assistant Superintendent in Jail No. 2 of Tihar Jail. Let us tell you that the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police is also investigating the case of vicious gangster Sukesh Chandrashekhar, accused in the alleged fraud case of Rs 200 crore.

The EOW had recently sought permission to interrogate 82 jail officials who had allegedly provided special facilities to Sukesh inside the jail. After this fact came to light, there was a stir among the jail officials and they also staged a sit-in.
