Astrologer's murder case in Kanpur, 3 arrested

KANPUR: With the arrest of three persons, the Kanpur police on Tuesday said to have solved the murder case of astrologer Madhu Kapoor.

The victim's lawyer's driver and two of his friends were detained for the robbery-intentional murder.

Joint Police Commissioner Anand Prakash Tiwari said, on February 13, criminals murdered Madhu Kapoor, an old woman living alone in her apartment in Concorde Apartment in Kanpur's Swaroop Nagar.

The victim's domestic helper, Savitri, was at the house when the tragedy happened. Her wrists and feet were bound, and she was imprisoned in the restroom by the offenders. After killing Madhu Kapoor, they fled with thousands of rupees.

Based on CCTV footage, the police and the crime branch officials discovered that Kapoor's advocate, Sudhir Mehrotra, had visited her house.

The murder was organised by Gautam Valmiki and another person after spotting the expensive property and the lonely elderly woman. His driver Vipin was also involved.

The driver was the mastermind behind the affair, but he refrained from entering the flat out of concern that he would be identified. It is being said that seeing the property worth crores and the lonely elderly woman, his driver Vipin, Gautam Valmiki and another person planned the murder.

From the outside, he delivered directions, and both of his friends carried out the murder. After stealing thousands of rupees' worth of jewellery and cash, they left.
