RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff on General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday rejected Indian claims of ‘surgical strikes’.

The army chief said the armed forces were ready to respond to any aggression from the Indian side. “Pakistan Armed Forces are fully geared to respond to any aggression by India.”

During a visit to Balochistan’s Khuzdar area earlier in the day, General Bajwa praised the law enforcement agencies peace and said that will be established at every cost.

“A campus of Engineering University is being set up in Quetta,” said the army chief. He added that 25,000 children were getting education in army institutions.

“Balochistan will be given representation in the Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force and other law enforcement agencies. Today’s Balochistan is more united, stable and heading towards restoration,” said General Bajwa.

In September last year, New Delhi claimed that its forces carried out surgical strikes inside Pakistan against alleged ‘terror launch pads’. The claim was forcefully rejected by Islamabad while it was also contested by a number of independent experts.

On September 18, 18 Indian troops were killed in an attack on a military base in Sri Nagar near the LoC. Indian blamed the attack on Pakistan, a charge the latter denied categorically.
