Dhaka: Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave a speech on Monday that has been called a "indirect declaration of Bangladesh's independence in 1971." This speech has been called a "historic moment" in the country's history. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is also the elder daughter of the Bangabandhu, placed wreaths at his portrait on the premises of Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi.

On October 30, 2017, UNESCO added the historic speech to the world's record of history because Bangabandhu told Bangalees to get ready for the Liberation War.It has been added to the Memory of the World International Register, which is a list of important documents from around the world that is kept by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

On March 7, 1971, Bangabandhu made an important speech at a huge rally in Dhaka. He told people who wanted to be free to fight the Pakistani junta in a very strong way.

Bangabandhu made a 19-minute speech in front of millions of people from then East Pakistan. He said, "We shed blood... we're ready to shed more blood, the people of this country will be freed, Insha'Allah!" As soon as the Pakistani government started attacks on March 25, people from all walks of life began to prepare for the war, which started. Bangabandhu's March 7 speech has been chosen as one of the best wartime speeches in the last 2,500 years.
