Shimla: These days the yield of potatoes for farmers has proved to be nothing less than a gift in Chhota Bhangal of the Kangra city of Himachal Pradesh and the adjacent Chauhar Valley. For the first time, farmers are getting a record wholesale price of Rs 40 per kg of potato. This time the farmers here are getting rich even after having a low crop. This potato is famous as Barot's potato in Chota Bhangal and the adjacent Chauhar Valley.

In August, the potato crop of farmers started coming out. In the beginning, Barot's potato was sold at a wholesale price of Rs 20 to 25 per kg. Which is now being sold in bulk for two days at Rs 40 per kg. The potato season here lasts till November. Last year was only 5 to 10 rupees per wholesale price. Barot's potato business is about 5 to 6 crores every year.

However, compared to last year, this time the potato crop in the fields has been reduced by half, but the pocket of farmers is still getting rich due to the wholesale price of Rs 40 per kg. The potato of Barot has not been sent to the mandis of other states but also to the states. Nowadays, 8 to 10 vehicles are going to the mandis every day. On the other hand DC Kangra Rakesh Prajapati said that there are excellent employment opportunities in agriculture too. Farmers will now get good price for farming. With this, happiness has returned again on the face of the farmers, and now they are happy after getting a good price.
