Amritsar: Punjab Chief Minister and Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence in Delhi on Monday. After the meeting, CM Channi said that the main issue was BBMB (Bhakra Beas Management Board), officers should be deployed as before. But, the central government wants to deploy people from outside.

Along with this, CM Channi said that I requested the Home Minister to reconsider this. Assured me that he would talk to his minister in 1-2 days and act as per the wishes of Punjab. Simultaneously, CM Channi said that the second issue, out of our 997 students, who were trapped in Ukraine, 420 have returned. 200 have gone to Poland and are safe, but some people are still trapped.

Channi said that I made a request for them, the Home Minister assured me that they are monitoring and the students will come back. Earlier on February 28 last month, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rana KP Singh, while meeting Governor Banwarilal Purohit, had said that the changes made in the rules for the selection of two members of the BBMB would be detrimental to the interests of Punjab and Haryana.
