Chandigarh: Bhagwant Mann-led administration in Punjab is set to soon enlarge its cabinet by adding at least five MLAs as ministers, party sources said on Saturday.
The Mann-led government will have 15 members total, including the chief minister, after the addition of five more ministers. Ten MLAs were appointed as ministers in the Mann-led cabinet after the Aam Aadmi Party won resoundingly in the 2022 assembly elections.
The chief minister is one of the 18 seats in the government. The cabinet headed by Mann currently has nine ministers.
Health Minister Vijay Singla was expelled from the state cabinet in May due to allegations of corruption.
A woman and a Hindu face are likely to be included in the expanded cabinet, said the party sources. There is also likelihood to induct at least one lawmaker who has served as an MLA twice.
Notably, during the state assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party swept to victory by winning 92 seats in the 117-member Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
