New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Pandit Sukh Ram has passed away at the age of 95. His son Anil Sharma has issued this information. He has said that Pandit Sukh Ram was ill and was admitted to AIIMS in New Delhi, he was undergoing treatment for brain stroke.  Anil Sharma has said that his father Pandit Sukhram has passed away at around 1:30 am today. The body of Pandit Sukhram will be brought to Mandi by this evening and his last rites are to be performed tomorrow from his home district Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.

Grandson did Facebook post - Now the phone will not ring: Ashray Sharma, grandson of Pandit Sukhram, also informed about his death through a social media post. Pandit Sukhram was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS, Delhi) in New Delhi on May 7. However, the time of death of the former Union Minister has not been mentioned in the social media post. Aashray Sharma has also shared a childhood photo with her grandfather in her Facebook post.

Pandit Sukhram's grandson Ashray Sharma wrote in a post on Facebook late on Tuesday night, "Goodbye Dadaji, the phone will not ring now." According to reports, former Union Minister Sharma was admitted to a hospital in Mandi on May 4 after suffering a brain stroke in Manali. From there he was brought to Delhi on Saturday for better results and was admitted to AIIMS.

Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur had provided a government helicopter on 7 May to send him to Delhi. Some reports say that Sukh Ram was the Union Minister of State for Communications (Independent Charge) from 1993 to 1996. He was also an MP from Mandi Lok Sabha seat. She also won five times in the assembly and three times in the Lok Sabha elections.
