World champion boxer Nikhat Zareen has to say that she represents India instead of representing any community. When Zareen was asked here on Monday that people talk about her religious background more than her hard work and achievements in the ring, she said that Hindu-Muslim does not matter to her.
Belonging to a conservative society, 25-year-old Zareen made it clear that she plays and wins for India and not for any particular community. Continuing her point, she has said that as a player, I represent India. Hindu-Muslim doesn't matter to me. I do not represent any community, I represent the country and I am happy to win a medal for the country.
Speaking on the question related to 'mental pressure', Nikhat said that the Indian player is a little behind in this matter and it needs training to do well on the global stage. Indian players perform well in regular events but falter on the big stage like Olympics or World Championships. When Nikhat was asked where there is a shortage in Indian boxers, he said that Indian boxers are very talented, we are not less than anyone. We have the strength, the speed and everything with the necessary skills.
