BANGALORE: The sleuths of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) who is investigating into the controversial murder case of BJP Yuva Morcha activist Praveen Kumar Nettare raided the residence of the National Secretary of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) Riyaz Farangipete on Thursday, September 8.

The police were searching his home in Perlia, in the Bantwal taluk, which is close to B.C. Road. According to sources, the raids were carried out to acquire information on links to the instigation of terror in the area as well as evidence of the spread of hatred.

Leaders of the governing BJP have regularly accused the SDPI of joining hands with anti-national elements and waging hate campaigns against Hindu and BJP supporters. They also claimed that the SDPI was responsible for the deaths of Harsha, a Bajrang Dal activist, and Praveen.

The SDPI, however, has denied the accusations and pressed the BJP to back up their claims. The SDPI has also claimed that their cadre was detained in connection with Praveen's murder despite there being no proof of this. On Tuesday, the NIA searched more than 38 places in the Dakshina Kannada district.

Chief Minister Bommai had stated had siad, Praveen's death was more than just a murder. A few elements had carried out the murder in order to convey a message. He added that the investigation would be carried out to dispel the network's origins and reveal the unseen forces working to stir up trouble in the community. The investigation into Praveen's death has thus far shown that it was done in retaliation for Masood's murder.

In Bellare town, Dakshina Kannada district, on July 26, bike-borne criminals slashed to death BJP activist Praveen in front of his chicken business.

Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister, postponed celebrating the end of his one-year tenure in office due to Praveen's murder. He paid a visit to Praveen's family and presented them with a cheque for Rs. 25 lakh as government compensation. The BJP gave a separate donation of Rs. 25 lakh.

The incident has led to a string of anti-ruling BJP protests by BJP activists across Karnataka. The home of Home Minister Araga Jnanendra was under siege by the protesters, greatly embarrassing the ruling class.
