NEW DELHI: The Delhi BJP named the Assembly in-charge for the impending Rajinder Nagar bypolls on Friday. After AAP's Raghav Chadha resigned from the Delhi Assembly, bypolls in Rajinder Nagar were called. From Punjab, Raghav was elected to the Rajya Sabha.

Ajay Mahawar, a BJP MLA, has been named the in-charge of the Rajinder Nagar Assembly constituency.  Former BJP MLA Dr Mahendra Nagpal was appointed in-charge of Rajinder Nagar ward; former state unit secretary Gajendra Yadav was appointed in-charge of Indrapuri ward; former state unit vice president Jai Prakash was appointed in-charge of Narayana ward; and Delhi BJP spokesperson Richa Pandey Mishra was appointed co-in-charge of Narayana ward in an effort to strengthen its fighting power in the constituency.

Adesh Gupta, the head of the Delhi BJP, said that all the appointments are effective from immediate effect. Raghav Chadha handed up his resignation to Speaker Ram Niwas Goel last month. Within six months following Chadha's resignation, bypolls will be held.

Former MLA and party national spokesperson Sardar R.P. Singh, Delhi BJP vice president Rajan Tewari, former state unit general secretary Rajesh Bhatia, and others are among the BJP officials vying for the seat.
