Ahmedabad: The process of changing the party of leaders, who are upset over not getting tickets for the Gujarat Assembly, has also started. Kesarisinh Solanki, the sitting MLA from the Matar assembly constituency in Gujarat's Kheda district, joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday after the BJP denied giving him a ticket.
In Gujarat, AAP state unit president Gopal Italia welcomed OBC leader Kesarisinh Solanki into the party fold and announced the same in a Twitter post. However, AAP has given a ticket to Mahipat Singh Chauhan from Matar's seat. Kesarisinh Solanki is a BJP MLA from Gujarat's Matar. He has been elected twice on a BJP ticket and reached the Assembly. Kesarisinh Solanki contested the 2017 Assembly elections as a BJP candidate from Matar.
He won the seat by a margin of 2,406 votes against Congress candidate, Sanjay Patel. Singh often remains in controversies over his works. In 2021, the police caught Kesarisinh doing a liquor party and gambling in Pavagadh. The court had also sentenced him to two years in jail in the case. A fine of Rs 4,000 was also imposed on him.
