The covid infection in the state seems to be proving to be more deadly black fungus. Recently, while the mortality rate from black fungus is 15.73 per cent, the mortality rate due to covid infection is only 2 per cent.

The first case of covid infection in the state was detected in Dehradun on 15th March, 2020. Within 451 days of covid period, 335866 people have been affected by infection in the state. Out of which 316621 patients have recovered and 6878 patients have lost their lives. The mortality rate of covid infection is 2 per cent.

While the first case of black fungus has been found in Dehradun on 14th May, 2021. So far, black fungus has been confirmed in 356 patients in Dehradun, Nainital, Udhamsingh Nagar districts. While 56 patients have succumbed to their injuries and 31 patients have recovered.
