Guwahati : The body of a child was found in the water tank of the Government Water Supply Office in Nagaon district of Assam on Tuesday at Juria in Nagaon district of Assam. The search was on for a 10-year-old boy missing since last Monday. His floating body was found by the local people today. According to the police, the child's mouth was closed with black tape, raising suspicion that the boy was a victim of human sacrifice. The locals have alleged that someone from the office staff has committed the crime.

However, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The body has been sent to the hospital for post-mortem and the police have started investigation into the matter. In another case, Guwahati Police solved two kidnapping cases. On September 3 and September 5, two kidnapping cases were registered at Dispur police station and Khetri police station. Two minor girls were lured away by the accused. Based on intelligence and technical assistance, following continuous follow up in the Khetri Police Station case by the East Guwahati Police District, the victim and the accused were located in Lanka, Hojai district.

Mohammad Amanuddin (22) Hojai, son of Mohammad Jamaluddin of Udali Borjuha village of Lanka, was arrested and brought to Khetri police station. And the victim girl was recovered from him. When the same second accused youth was taking another victim in a bus going from Gwalpara to Dhubri, then in the Dispur police station case, the investigating officer, with the help of Chhapar police, arrested the accused, Sadanand Manjhi's son Prasad Manjhi (30) at Tarabari police station in Barpeta district. Arrested under and rescued the victim. Both will be brought to Dispur police station for further legal action.
