In an effort to stop the diseases from spreading further, the Spanish government has agreed to provide a booster dose against Covid-19 to anyone over the age of 18.
The booster shot was previously only offered to persons aged 40 and above, as well as those who had received the single-dose 'Janssen' vaccination, essential workers, and those with immune deficiency issues. Minister of Health Carolina Darias announced on Thursday that the third dose will be given "in descending age order."
Darias said, the minimum time between the second and third vaccinations will be decreased from six to five months. She also stated that anyone who became sick following a second vaccine would have to wait at least a month before obtaining a booster dose.
According to Ministry of Health data, 33.95 percent of the population has gotten the booster injection, while 80.39 percent has been completely vaccinated and 84.67 percent has only had one dose.
