BREAKING! Delhi Church building's wall collapsed, 1 injured

New Delhi: A laborer reportedly sustained injuries following a church building's wall collapsed in North West Delhi's Shakurpur G-block today, February 9, said an official.

The injured person has been identified as Raghubansh, aged 35, a resident of district Banka, Bihar.

Usha Rangnani, the deputy commissioner of police for the northwest, said that an emergency response vehicle (ERV) was deployed to the scene on Thursday at around 9.45 a.m. after receiving information about  the collapse of a house wall in Shakurpur's G-Block.

"An injured person was taken to the hospital where the doctor said that he had several minor abrasion injuries. On the preliminary inquiry, it was revealed that there was some repair work going on at the 1st floor of a three-story vacant building, in which there is a church functioning on the ground floor," said the DCP.

Father of the church, Rev Fr. Emanuel told police that this building was 35 years old and he had decided to renovate the first floor.

 

"During repair work, one wall collapsed suddenly and Raghubansh fell from the first floor and sustained abrasion injuries. Legal action is being taken in this regard, Subhash Place police station," the official added.
