Amaravati: Tragedy struck as a bus plunged into a water canal near Darsi in Andhra Pradesh's Prakasam district, claiming the lives of seven individuals, including a seven-year-old child. Additionally, more than 15 people sustained injuries in the unfortunate incident, which occurred late at night. The ill-fated vehicle was a part of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation, carrying over 40 passengers, en route from Kakinada.

Upon receiving the distressing news, the authorities promptly rushed the injured victims to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention. The local police swiftly arrived at the scene and initiated a rescue operation, working tirelessly to save lives.

Confirming the grim outcome, Sub Inspector Ramakrishna of Darsi revealed that seven people lost their lives in the bus accident. Furthermore, he stated that over 15 individuals suffered severe injuries, currently undergoing treatment at Darsi and Ongole hospitals. Despite the distressing situation, the officials expressed their hope for no further casualties. The exact cause of the incident remains unknown, and rescue efforts continue to be underway.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the police indicate that the passengers had chartered the bus to attend a wedding ceremony in Kakinada city. Further information regarding the incident is eagerly awaited, as authorities work diligently to uncover all the details.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of Andhra Pradesh expressed his profound sorrow and offered his heartfelt condolences in response to the tragic bus accident near Darshi in Prakasam district. Taking to Twitter in his native language, Telugu, the official handle of the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) in Andhra Pradesh conveyed the following message: "Chief Minister Shri YS Jagan expressed his deep shock regarding the unfortunate RTC bus accident near Darshi in Prakasam district. Our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving families who have lost their loved ones. Instructed the authorities to ensure enhanced medical assistance for the injured individuals. We stand united with the bereaved families in their time of sorrow."
