LUCKNOW: The Bundelkhand Expressway in Uttar Pradesh is nearing its completion and is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in mid-July.

Awanish Kumar Awasthi, the Additional Chief Secretary, Home and CEO of the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), inspected the project site in the Etawah district on Tuesday and gave the contractors 10 days to finish the remaining work.

The 296-kilometre access-controlled road begins in Chitrakoot district near Bharatkoop and joins the Agra-Lucknow expressway in Etawah near Kudrail village. The districts of Chitrakoot, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jaluan, Aurraiya, and Etawah would be traversed by the expressway.

The four-lane expressway has four railway over bridges, 14 large bridges, 266 small bridges, 18 flyovers, 6 toll plazas and 7 ramp plazas. According to the officials, a service lane has been built to allow access to the villages positioned close to the motorway.

Through the Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Yamuna Expressway, the region will be connected to Delhi and the National Capital Region as soon as the Bundelkhand Expressway is operational. The expressway will accelerate the development of Bundelkhand's underdeveloped area while boosting the industrial, commercial, tourist, and agricultural sectors.
