NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet on has approved a proposal by the Ministry of Home Affairs to reduce the required minimum educational qualification from 10th to eighth class for the recruitment of 400 candidates as constables (general duty) in the CRPF through a recruitment rally in three districts of Chhattisgarh: Bijapur, Dantewada, and Sukma.

"Four hundred tribal youth from the interiors of three districts in Chhattisgarh, namely Bijapur, Dantewada, and Sukma, would be employed. The Ministry of Home Affairs would also grant appropriate relaxations in physical standards for recruiting "According to a statement Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a meeting of the Union Cabinet that made the decision.

The government added in a statement that, in addition to placing advertisements in local newspapers and using all available methods to publicise the rally in these three districts' interior areas, the CRPF would also provide formal education to these newly recruited trainees during their probation term.

The CRPF is a Central Armed Police Force that is primarily responsible for preserving law and order, counter-insurgency operations, and ensuring internal security.

In this scenario, the CRPF plans to recruit 400 local tribal youths as general duty constables from Chhattisgarh's relatively backward areas.
