Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police has registered a case against three people under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). These people shouted freedom slogans during a procession of Muharram in the outskirts of Srinagar. On Tuesday, a video related to this is going viral on social media. In this video, some people are reportedly seen shouting freedom slogans.

After this video surfaced, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has taken this action. According to the media report, out of the three people against whom the police have registered a case in this case, 2 people have been arrested. The Kashmir Police spokesman said that in the video, people present in the procession of Muharram were shouting slogans in support of independence. The Parimpora Police Station has taken action taking cognizance of this video.

The police spokesman said that where the video is, it is far from the main Imambara and there is no old record of this type of sloganeering incident. Nor was any intelligence received in this regard, during the procession, no police was also deployed in the concerned area. Police said that as the area was far from the main Imambara, some youths of Budgam took advantage of the occasion and raised slogans. Police is taking action in this matter.
