Raipur: An elderly man was dragged out of his house and assaulted by four unidentified persons in Ghotia village near Kanker town of Chhattisgarh on Thursday night. Then he was brutally killed. After that, they hung the body from a tree and fled. The incident is said to have taken place around 12.30 am on Thursday. As soon as the incident was reported in the morning, the police reached the spot and removed the body from the tree, and started investigating the matter.
Dariav Kumeti (70), a resident of Ghotia village, was sleeping in a kutcha house near the farm along with his wife Mahanti and mother. At around 12.30 am, four unidentified masked men arrived at his house and called the elderly man out. As soon as the elderly man came out, the miscreants locked his wife inside the house and dragged the elderly man with them. The elderly man's wife kept screaming, but her mother-in-law, unable to hear, could not know about the incident.
When the mother-in-law woke up in the morning, she opened the door, then the elderly Dariav's wife informed her son. After this the search for the elderly Dariav was started, then his dead body was found hanging on a tree in the field at some distance from the house. There were injury marks on the body in many places. The son of the deceased immediately informed the police about the incident, after which the police reached the spot and started an investigation.
