Guwahati: In an effort to achieve 100% immunization in Assam, the Chief Minister of the state Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday flagged off 15 mobile vaccination vans for 6 different districts of Assam. and inaugurated a vaccination center at ISBT, Betkuchi. Speaking on the occasion, he said the Center would help cover the vaccination of non-district and inter-state travelers. The Chief Minister also appreciated the work of health department staff including ANM nurses and other personnel engaged in vaccination.

The minister also asked the health officials to intensify the vaccination drive across the state to complete the first dose of vaccination within October 30 this year. On this occasion, along with CM Sarma, Health Minister Keshav Mahant, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Ashok Singhal, ASTC Chairman Ashok Bhattarai and other senior officials of the Health Department were present. People living in different areas will now have better access to vaccines through this initiative that enhances the nationwide vaccination campaign.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that Durga Puja will be celebrated in the state following the COVID protocol. Durga Puja, which is the biggest festival of Bengalis, is starting from 11 October. The four-day festival will conclude on October 15. Last year too, various restrictions were imposed across the state on the occasion of the festival by the government in the wake of the pandemic situation.
