West Indies player Chris Gayle who had a phenomenal season with the bat for KXIP, will look to keep his good form going in the World Cup and lift the trophy at the end of the tournament which is going to see his end in the national team.  The player has started to focus on the ICC World Cup. ICC World Cup will be Gayle's last, the opening batsman has been made the vice-captain of the team.

In the official statement released by Cricket West Indies, Gyle said,  "It is always an honour to represent the West Indies in any format and this World Cup for me is special. As a senior player it is my responsibility to support the captain and everyone else in the team.”

He further added, "This will probably be the biggest World Cup, so there will be great expectations and I know we will do very well for the people of the West Indies.”

Jason Holder will lead the Windies side in the showpiece event after booking a spot through the qualifiers. West Indies Cricket has been through a massive grind since some of the top players refused to play for the country a couple of years ago. With the return of the likes of Gayle, Andre Russell among many other players and a plethora of younger guns rising to the occasion. Gayle, however, will not be the vice-captain for the tri-nation series involving Bangladesh and Ireland as Shai Hope has been given the responsibility for the assignment.
