After the signature of the Parliament and the President, the Citizenship Amendment Bill has become law, but protests are continuing in the country. People took to the streets against this law on 19 December in Mangaluru, Karnataka. The demonstration became furious in which 2 people died. The Chief Minister of the state has announced that he will give a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased. In addition, violence will be investigated.

The nature of the investigation of the case will be determined after a meeting with Home Minister Basavaraja Bommai. Chief Minister has ordered Deputy Commissioner Sindhu Rupesh to pay compensation to the family of the victims. In his statement, the Chief Minister said that he met the families of the victims so that they can find out the problems that come after this incident. After spending about 30 minutes with the family, Yeddyurappa said that if the situation improves, he will be provided a home. The curfew has been relaxed by the district administration till 6 pm today in Mangaluru. However, Section 144 will continue.
