Coco Gauff of the United States has moved up to a career-best 13th position in the WTA rankings released on Monday after losing to world number one woman Iga Swiatek in the final of the French Open tennis tournament. The 18-year-old Goff, who lived in Florida, has gained 10 places to reach the Grand Slam final for the first time. He was defeated 6-1, 6-3 by Swiatek in the final on Saturday. Gauff had never before failed to advance beyond the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam. She reached both the singles and doubles finals at Roland Garros but suffered defeats. Her doubles partner Jessica Pegula also made it to the top 10 of the singles category for the first time.

Jessica, who reached the French Open quarter-finals, has moved from 11th to 8th seventh. Jessica was also defeated by Swiatek and she has won 35 matches in a row. Barbara Krasikova, who won the French Open singles and doubles titles last year, became only the third woman to lose in the first round of the upcoming tournament after winning the trophy at Roland Garros in the professional era. She had slipped from second to 14th in the latest rankings.

This time the French open will have a longer impact on the rankings as both the WTA and ATP professional tours have announced that they are no longer going to be awarded Wimbledon points starting June 27. The All England Club has decided to ban players from Russia and Belarus due to the attack on Ukraine, after which both tours took this step.

Former number one men's player Rafael Nadal has moved up one place to fourth on Sunday after winning the 14th French Open and the 22nd Grand Slam of his career. Serbia's Novak Djokovic remains at the top. Nadal, who defeated Djokovic in the quarter-finals, defeated Kasper Rudd 6-3, 6-3, 6-0 in the final. Rudd, who played in the Grand Slam final for the first time, has moved from eighth to a career-best ranking of six.
