Patiala: Congress MP Preneet Kaur on Saturday attended a BJP meeting in Patiala and sought votes for her husband Amarinder Singh in the Punjab assembly elections. Amarinder Singh had formed her own party Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) after being removed as CM by the Congress high command last year following a dispute with the party's state unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.

The PLC led by Amarinder Singh is contesting the state elections in the BJP and Shiad (united) alliance. The former CM is contesting as a candidate of Punjab Lok Congress from his traditional seat Patiala (Urban). While the Congress candidate from this seat is Vishnu Sharma. Saturday's meeting was held at Sirhind gate here. Here, Preneet Kaur said, "I have come to you to request you as members of Amarinder Singh's family." Kaur had said on Thursday, "I am with my family. Family is above all."

Parneet, who stayed away from campaigning for the Same Congress, has intensified speculation about his next political move. A few days ago, a Congress candidate from Patiala (Urban) Vishnu Sharma had asked Kaur to either campaign for the party or resign. The Congress had in November last year issued a show-cause notice to her seeking her explanation for the alleged "anti-party activities". However, when asked about this, Kaur had told reporters on Thursday that she had not received any such notice and had only read about it in newspapers and on social media.
