New Delhi: The Congress on Wednesday claimed that the expansion is not of the Union Cabinet but of the "hunger for power", a few hours before the expansion of the Union Cabinet. Party national spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said PM Narendra Modi and several of his ministers should be removed from office if work and governance are made the basis.

He told media persons that, 'It is not the cabinet, but the expansion of the hunger for power. If the Cabinet is expanded, it should be on the basis of functioning and governance.' Surjewala further said that if there is a change on the basis of functioning, first of all, Health and Family Welfare Minister Harsh Vardhan should be removed from office. At the same time, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who suppressed the country's citizens under the burden of excise duty on petrol and diesel, should be removed.

Surjewala also said, "The Food Minister should also be removed from the post, who brought the country to a point that there are no food grains for the poor, while one lakh tonnes of rice is being given to the units producing liquor. First of all, the Finance Minister should be removed, who put the GDP of the country in a negative position." Surjewala claimed that "Defence Minister Rajnath Singh should be removed under whose rule China has occupied Indian land and nothing is happening on behalf of the government."
