COVID-19 Live News Updates from India: India has seen 9,195 new cases of the novel coronavirus, with 302 deaths as a result of the infection, in the last 24 hours. According to data released by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday, the country witnessed 7,347 discharges in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recovery rate to roughly 98.40 percent, the highest since March 2020, and total recoveries to 3,42,51,292. In addition, the total number of Omicron cases has now reached 781.

According to government data released today, the overall number of active COVID-19 cases in India has risen to 77,002.  So far, the Nationwide Vaccination Drive has administered about 143.15 crore vaccine doses. The country's total death toll today stands at 4,80,592. The first death from the COVID epidemic was recorded in India in March 2020.

The Indian Council of Medical Research reports that 67,52,46,143 samples have been tested for COVID-19 as of December 28. On Tuesday, 11,67,612 of these samples were examined.

Meanwhile, after reporting less than 2,000 new COVID-19 cases in the previous two days, Kerala reported 2,474 new infections on Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases to 52,27,403. In addition, the State confirmed 244 deaths, bringing the total death toll to 47,066 thus far, according to an official news release.
