Telangana has become the first large state in the country to complete 100 percent first-dose immunisation against COVID-19, according to state health minister T Harish Rao. Rao, along with the state's Health Director and other officials, celebrated the achievement by cutting a cake at the Director of Health's office in Kothi on Tuesday.

"It's great that the state's first dose of the vaccination is 100 percent complete. Telangana has made a national milestone by becoming the first large state to complete the first dose 100 percent. Only eight smaller states, known as Union Territories, have achieved this accomplishment so far: the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep, and Sikkim "While speaking to the media, Rao stated.

The minister went on to say that the state has accomplished 66 percent coverage of the second dose. Vaccination is taking place at 3,500 government and 264 private clinics, he said.

"A total of 10,000 vaccinators and 35,000 employees are involved in the immunisation process. So far, 100 percent of the first dose has been completed, and 66 percent of the second dose has been done. The national average for the first dose is 90 percent and for the second dose is 63 percent. We outperform the national average "Rao remarked.
