India Corona Updates: In the last 24 hours, India reported 1,72,433 new cases of the novel coronavirus, including 1,008 deaths, according to statistics released by the Health Ministry on Thursday. With this, the overall number of active COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 15,33,921. The death toll from coronavirus in India has now reached 4,98,983, with a positive rate of 10.99 percent. As per accounts, 167.87 crore vaccinations have been administered throughout the country so far.

On August 7, 2020, India's COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, followed by 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It exceeded the 60 lakh level on September 28, the 70 lakh mark on October 11, the 80 lakh mark on October 29, the 90 lakh mark on November 20, and the one-crore mark on December 19.

On May 4, India passed the two-crore mark, and on June 23, it passed the three-crore mark. Meanwhile,  there were 165 new fatalities in Kerala and 79 in Maharashtra among the 1,008 total fatalities.

So far, 4,98,983 deaths have been reported across the country, with 1,42,784 deaths in Maharashtra, 56,100 in Kerala, 39,137 in Karnataka, 37,636 in Tamil Nadu, 25,919 in Delhi, 23,254 in Uttar Pradesh and 20,687 in West Bengal.
