New Delhi: Elderly property dealer commits suicide after killing wife on Thursday in Jagatpuri area of Shahdara district of the capital. The deceased have been identified as standard Chand Bedi (70) and his wife Lakshmi (35). After the first wife's death seven years ago, the standard married Lakshmi, half her age, six months ago.

Both were in contention

It is reported that a few days later, the two began to dispute. Lakshmi had also complained to the police against the standard and her family. Police have been anticipating that the standard caused by domestic strife killed the wife and committed suicide. In the preliminary investigation, police have ruled out the involvement of an outsider in the incident.

With this, the police, including the Manchchand family, lived in Baldev Park, Jagatpuri. The family has three sons from the first wife besides wife Lakshmi. The four-storey house has the standard three sons on the upper floors living with his wife and children, while the standard lived on the ground floor. At around 10pm on Thursday morning, the 15-year-old grandson of Manchanda came down to meet his grandfather, and he saw the door was locked inside.
