Dabirpura: A crack was noticed on the Dabirpura flyover on Monday and a small part of the road collapsed. “Due to the damage, a biker met with an accident and was seriously injured. After it came to light, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation covered the hole with patch work.

Passers-by and activists allege that the flyover is getting damaged due to non-maintenance of it for years. He says that permanent repair work should be done to avoid any major incident. The first damage was noticed on October 14, as a deep crater formed in the middle of the flyover, causing panic among the commuters. He was closed. A team of GHMC was immediately pressed into service and the damaged portion was partially restored. Municipal officials say that the recent heavy rains are likely to cause damage.

A GHMC official said that a few years back the repair work of the flyover was done by the Roads and Buildings and Projects Department. Since then no work has been done by the civic body. Patch work was started after two recent damages. The entire flyover needs to be fixed and repaired."
