New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, addressing public meetings in Khandwa and Badwani district of Madhya Pradesh, likened the Congress party to a "sinking ship" with a hole in the bottom, stating that no power in the world could prevent it from sinking.

Taking a veiled dig at the Gandhi family, Singh remarked, "After independence, Mahatma Gandhi suggested dissolving the Congress as democracy had been established in the country. However, the leaders of Congress ignored Mahatma Gandhi's advice." "I believe the people of this country have decided to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi's wish regarding Congress and will definitely remove Congress from the country," he added.

Singh praised the BJP government for lifting "25 crore" people out of poverty in the last 10 years. "Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, and Manmohan Singh, all aimed to eradicate poverty but failed. However, the Modi government succeeded in uplifting 25 crore people out of poverty," he stated. Regarding the allegations of 'Democracy under threat' amid recent developments in Surat and Indore, Singh pointed out that the Congress candidate had been elected unopposed 20 times in the past.

Singh compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Ahilyabai Holkar, highlighting Holkar's role in protecting cultural heritage in Malwa. "Modi ji is doing what Ahilyabai Holkar did. He ensured the construction of the Ujjain Mahakaal Corridor, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, and Ram Mandir in Ayodhya," he said.

Advocating for 'One Nation One Election', Singh emphasized the need for synchronized elections, stating, "Assembly elections were held around four months ago, and now within a short duration, general elections are happening. I believe there should be a single election every five years. Next time, both elections will happen together, and we will work towards it."

Madhya Pradesh is conducting Lok Sabha polls in four phases. The first two phases concluded on April 19 and April 26. The counting of votes will be held on June 4. Madhya Pradesh has a total of 29 Lok Sabha constituencies, making it the sixth-largest state in terms of parliamentary representation. In the 2019 elections, the BJP won 28 out of 29 seats, while the Congress could only secure one seat.
