Uttarakhand: Glacier has broken in Joshimath, Uttarakhand. The collapse of the glacier has wreaked havoc, due to which Uttarakhand, as well as the Central Government, have issued vigilance instructions. The Union Water Power Minister has issued a directive to the districts along the river Ganga to remain alert after the glacier burst in the Rishi Ganga river of Chamoli. Now water is expected to rise in the Ganges river. Keeping this apprehension in mind, safety instructions have been issued. At present, the administration of cities along the banks of the river Ganges from Bijnor to Banaras in UP has been issued an alert.

Simultaneously, the administration in Rishikesh has also banned rafting in the Ganges river. According to reports, an appeal is being made to the people here that the water level of the Ganges can increase at any time, so do not go inside the river. People living on the banks of the river are also being evacuated to safer places. The administration has issued similar instructions in different cities of UP and in the cities along the river banks have been banned from taking boats in the River Ganges.

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat himself has said, 'The Rishiganga project in Rani village of Chamoli is prone to damage due to heavy rains and sudden water. There is a possibility of flooding in the lower areas of Alaknanda due to sudden water flow in the river. People have been alerted in coastal areas. People living on the banks of the river are being removed.' As a precautionary flow, the Bhagirathi river has been stopped. To prevent the flow of water of Alaknanda, Srinagar Dam and Rishikesh Dam have been evacuated. SDRF is on alert. I beg you not to spread rumors. I myself am leaving for the scene.
