New Delhi: A court in Delhi, the capital of the country, reprimanded Tihar jail officials for acting in a 'reckless manner' in violation of the law protecting the rights of prisoners and the jail administration was suffering from polycythemia as the president of Bhim Army He directed to get Chandrasekhar Azad treated at AIIMS.

Azad was arrested in connection with violence during a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act in Daryaganj area of Old Delhi. Hearing Azad's plea, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Arul Verma on Thursday directed for proper treatment of polycythemia at AIIMS where he had been treated earlier.

Let me tell you that polycythemia is a type of blood disorder. The court said that despite knowing about Azad's condition, he was given general medical facilities and treatment for his illness was not provided. The court said that the administration acted in a 'reckless manner' and violated the law, under which the rights of citizens and prisoners are protected. Now as per the court order, the Bhima Army Chief has been taken to AIIMS for recruitment.
