The time has come when the Centre and AAP are discussing the issue of providing free rides for women. Last month, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri categorically stated in the Lok Sabha that no proposal for such a scheme has been passed so far. Puri also clarified that the Centre has not received any proposal from the Delhi government in this regard.

Responding to Puri's remarks, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said that he was not obliged to send any proposal to the Centre on allowing free rides to women on the Delhi Metro. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, "Legally, the Delhi government does not need to send a proposal to the Centre about free rides for women in the Delhi Metro. Both the Delhi Metro and the Delhi government are ready to work on the proposal. As CM of Delhi, I assure the women of Delhi that we will introduce a free metro ride for women in Delhi. "
