Delhi, Mizoram only two State and UTs to show increase in COVID-19 cases in past 14 days

The Covid-19 cases in Delhi and Mizoram have shown an increase over the past two weeks in comparison with the previous 14 days. The week starting from October 18 ending on November 1 reports shows Kerala uprose as the Covid-19 capital of the country, reporting the highest number of fresh infections, even though the pandemic actually showed a decline when compared with the previous 14 days in the state.

IN this time period, Delhi has recorded 59,199 new cases, the third highest of the country. To the surprise, the capital is bucking the nationwide trend of decreasing numbers. The previous two weeks recorded 40,611 infections. This 14 day period registered 45% increase in cases. Nationwide, cases fell by 30% between the two periods, falling from 9,11,758 during October 4-18, to 6,35,963. The other state which registers rise in number was Mizoram, the difference in cases was just 370.

Since the pandemic's outbreak in March, apart from Maharashtra, Kerala became the only state, to report the highest number of fresh Covid-19 cases during any two-weeks. This Monday country has registered 37,374 cases compared to last Monday 36,604 infections. It shows the country is almost towards the COVID-19 flattening curve. The number of test taken on this Sunday falls to a five-week low, 8,55,800.
