New Delhi: The Tis Hazari court has rejected the bail plea of 15 accused against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Delhi's Daryaganj case on Friday (December 20). These 15 accused had set the car parked outside the Daryaganj DCP office on Friday evening (20 December). After which the mob also threw stones at the police and damaged many other vehicles.

Significantly, during the protest against CAA, senior lawyer Rebecca Jones appeared on behalf of the accused for inciting violence. Citing the guidelines laid down by the High Court, Jones said that the riot cases need to be evaluated very carefully. He said that no notice was given to these detained people as per 41A. The IO told the court that stones were also pelted at the DCP office. Many people have also been injured due to stone-pelting.

On Friday (December 20), there was a fierce protest against the Citizenship Act in Delhi's Jama Masjid. After the namaz of Jumma, the protesters were about to march till Jantar-Mantar, but they were stopped by the police at Delhi Gate itself. In the evening, the protesters set the car on fire outside the Daryaganj DCP office. The police had to use water cannons to expel the miscreants. After the uproar, a heavy police force was deployed in Daryaganj.
