NEW DELHI: Nitin Gadkari, a Union minister, announced on Friday that the 212-kilometer Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will be completed by the conclusion of this year. Speaking at Fifth Ayodhya Parv, the road transport and highways minister stated that people would be able to travel from Delhi to Dehradun in under two hours and from Delhi to Haridwar in 90 minutes after the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway construction is finished by the end of this year.


A highway is being built in four stages, beginning at the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME) interchange near Akshardham in Delhi and continuing through Shastri Park, Khajuri Khas, the Easter Peripheral Expressway (EPE) interchange at Khekra in Mandola Baghpat, Shamli, and Saharanpur to Dehradun.

51 km (6 lanes) of Greenfield Road, which would connect to this highway, are being built at a cost of 2095 crores, mostly for the connection to Haridwar.

The greenfield, six-lane Delhi-Dehradun motorway has between 60 and 70 percent of its construction work finished, according to the minister of transpor and highways.

The four sections of the motorway are being built starting from the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway (DME) near Akshardham in Delhi, Shastri Park, Khajuri Khas, and the EPE junction at Khekra in Mandola, Uttar Pradesh, and ending in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
