Doctors on strike to protest NM,  50,000 patients will suffer in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Doctors' strike across the country against the NMC bill is likely to have an impact even today. Doctors from several government hospitals including Delhi AIIMS, Safdarjung, Maulana Azad College, Lady Hardinge, LNGP are currently on strike. The AIIMS hospital has 15 thousand patients a day for treatment. In Safdarjung, 7-8 thousand, 6-7 thousand in RML, 8-9 thousand patients in LNJP come for treatment every day. In view of this, Delhi is witnessing a day of trouble today.

In the national capital, 50 thousand patients are expected to suffer today. At 2 p.m., doctors from AIIMS are reported to be marching to the parliament to protest against the NMC bill. The Lok Sabha has passed the NMC bill on Tuesday and according to doctors it will also encourage quacks.

What is the NMC Bill?

1- In section 32, 3.5 lakh non-medical persons are being licensed and given legal right to prescribe and treat all types of medicines. After a 6-month bridge course, Ayurveda and Unani doctors in the country will also be able to provide or prescribe allopathy medicines to patients like MBBS doctors.
2- A medical course means another exam has to be given to practice even after graduation. Practice and post graduation will be allowed only after passing the exam compliance. At present, exit tests are given only by students studying medical studies from abroad.
3- NMC will also fix fees for 40 per cent of seats in private medical colleges. Colleges will have the right to fix the remaining 60 per cent seat fees.
