Vaishali: The mother, who fasted on the occasion of Chhath, was burnt alive by the son. This news is from Ramashish Chowk in the Hajipur Sadar police station area on Sunday night. A son, drunk with a smack, burnt his mother alive after a small dispute. The deceased was identified as Ranju Devi. It is being said that the young man burnt his mother alive after the dispute. He also suffered burns as he was drunk. He was treated at Hajipur Sadar Hospital. A day later, after regaining consciousness on Monday, the accused son said how he burnt his mother.

Rohit has said that his mind was not working. After the dispute, the mother has been locked in the room. He took out petrol from the motorcycle and sprinkled it all over the room. He then set his mother on fire with a lighter in the room and burnt her alive. Rohit Kumar himself was also injured in the incident. But he was so drunk he didn't even know it. He has said that he regrets the death of his mother. His mind wasn't working, because she drank whitener. Rohit has said that his mother used to fast during Chhath. She used to go to offer Arghya. The deceased, Ranju Devi, is said to be 38 years old. She was a resident of Shahpur Patori in the Samastipur district. She used to do small work living in a rented house at Ramashish Chowk. The accused, 22-year-old  Rohit Kumar, used to pick scrap.

Locals informed the police about the fire in the house. The police team reached the spot. Police and fire brigade have brought the fire under control. The woman was rushed to Sadar hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. Acting swiftly after the incident, the police took the accused Rohit Kumar into custody from the spot. He was so drunk it wasn't possible to talk to him about anything. That is why he was admitted to Sadar Hospital for treatment. After about 18 hours, when he regained consciousness, he told that he made a mistake. Giving information about the incident, Sadar SDPO Om Prakash has said that the case of the murder of his mother by the son has been heard. My mother was completely burnt. While the son was drunk. On regaining consciousness, he has given a statement, the police are taking further action.
