New Delhi: The Chief Election Commissioner, along with the two Election Commissioners, is set to conduct a thorough review of Andhra Pradesh's readiness for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections during their visit on Monday. This visit is crucial in the election preparation process, as the state is expected to hold simultaneous assembly elections along with the Lok Sabha polls. The original plan included visits to both Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh from January 7 to 10, but a revised schedule prioritizes Andhra Pradesh for an in-depth assessment of election preparedness.

Scheduled for January 8 evening, the visit will see Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel, examining various aspects of election logistics and administration in Andhra Pradesh. Notably, a team of deputy election commissioners and other senior officers has already visited numerous states to oversee the preparations for the upcoming polls.

While the detailed itinerary for visits to all states and Union territories is yet to be confirmed, there is a possibility that certain states recently holding assembly polls may be excluded from the assessment. In the context of past electoral timelines, the Lok Sabha elections in 2019 were announced on March 10, followed by a phased voting process from April 11 to May 19, with the final vote count conducted on May 23.
