The State Election Commission of Assam has declared that voting will take place on March 6 for 80 municipal boards. Municipal elections will be held using electronic voting machines for the first time in the state (EVMs). According to the commission, the deadline for filing candidates is February 15, and applications will be assessed on February 17.

By February 20, all nominations and candidacies must be withdrawn. On March 6, voters will be polled, and the results will be counted on March 9. It should be noted that these 80 municipal boards have 977 wards or seats across the state.

According to the commission, there will be 2054 polling booths during the election, and at least 20,000 government employees will be needed to carry out the election process. The Silchar Municipal Board election, however, will not take place at this time because the case is still pending.
