Pithampur factories start, but work is at standstill

All the work is stalled due to the lockdown. But now it is not easy to start them. The administration has so far issued permission to about 500 factories in Pithampur and more than 300 factories in Indore. Only by getting the permission letter, the path of industries has not been easy. Most of the industries have not been able to start production due to labour shortage and supply chain problems with half-baked approval from the administration. Here, workers working in many industries have returned to their respective villages or hometowns due to the lockdown.

According to Gautam Kothari, president of Pithampur Industrial Organization, only a big tire manufacturing company of Pithampur has its second plant in Pune. The factory has opened there. He is supplied with coils from the factory in Indore. The factory in Indore is unable to send production of that coil to Pune because the administration has given permission to start the factory, but has not issued permission to transport the staff. As a result, the factory in Indore is unable to start work and the Pune plant is also waiting for Indore. According to Kothari, most of the staff from industrial area supervisors do the updation from Indore itself. They are taken by factory buses. The administration has not given permission to run these buses. So the plants are still closed.

Although the factories will get some labourers to stay here, other employees from supervisors to other families are not able to stay in the factory premises for several weeks. According to Pramod Duffaria, president of the Association of Industries MP (AIMP), most of the workers have migrated. Those who are left will have to stay in the factories. Very few people agree to stay in the factory. Even those who are ready to stop, how will industrialists be able to manage all the arrangements for them in this lockdown from food to food is also a big question.
