Lucknow: Two cattle smugglers and a SI were injured in an encounter between cattle smugglers and a police team in Chainpatti village under the Taryasujan police station area of Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning. After the encounter, the police arrested 3 miscreants including two injured smugglers.

With this, the police have recovered seven banned animals including Asalha, cartridges from the spot. The injured smuggler and SI have been admitted to the hospital by the police for treatment. CO Jitendra Kalra, who rushed to the spot, took full details of the incident. After taking information about the health of the injured SI, the CO gave necessary directions to the subordinates. Taryasujan SO Kapil Dev Chaudhary informed that on Saturday morning information was received from the informer that the cattle smugglers were going to Bihar with a consignment of banned animals from Chainpatti village by a pickup. Based on this information, the police team reached the spot and laid a trap and waited for the pickup to arrive. During this time, a speeding pickup was seen coming, which the police tried to stop, then the smugglers increased the speed of the car and started running away.

When the police team started the chase, the smugglers opened fire on the police team. In retaliation, the police tried to nab the smugglers. In the retaliatory action, two smugglers Imamul and Salim Shah, residents of Kanak Pipra police station in Patherwa district Kushinagar, sustained bullet injuries in the leg of Kushinagar, while SI Ashish Singh was injured in the attack by the smugglers. Three cattle smugglers, including two injured, have been arrested in the police action.
