Khargone: An official in Madhya Pradesh's Khargone district said on Monday that a 40-year-old farmer committed suicide by consuming poison. According to him, Ashok Gurjar, a resident of Malgaon village in the Sanawad police station, died in a hospital on Sunday. While kin claimed he was distressed after receiving a loan repayment notice from a bank, the local administration believes he may have gone to extremes for family reasons.

Gurjar owned about six acres of land in Chhota Bediya village, according to Badwah Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Anukul Jain, and according to the joint investigation report of the state Revenue and Agriculture departments, debt may not have been the cause of his action.

"A preliminary investigation revealed that he took this action due to a family issue." Police have filed a report, and the truth will be revealed once their investigation is completed. Gurjar had a bank loan of Rs 4.75 lakh, which he had partially repaid. "He was not forced to repay the loan by the bank," Jain said. According to Sanawad police Superintendent Siddarth Choudhary, a case has been filed and the incident is being investigated.
